There has been a series of cat or fox killings in various areas across the country, which started in the Croydon area in 2015.
The killings have been attributed to one person, the so-called 'Croydon Cat Killer', or 'M25 Killer'. The attacks follow a particular pattern, the details of which have not been published, but this means the authorities can be certain when investigating an animal killing, if it is the work of this individual or not.
In all cases, the animals have been mutilated in a specific way and the bodies left where the owners will find them.
At time of writing, the closest confirmed cases to Surrey Heath have been in Guildford and West Byfleet, the latest of which was in July 2018, which sadly means the person responsible is still active and can travel.
A group called S.N.A.R.L. (South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty) are working hard with the police to try and find the person responsible for this horrific crime.
Best advice is to try and keep an eye on your cats and know where they are at all times and to bring them in overnight.
